Types of Ready-Mix Concrete

Standard Concrete
High-Performance Concrete
High-performance concrete (HPC) is known for its exceptional strength, durability, and workability, created using specialized materials and precise proportions. HPC typically exhibits enhanced properties such as higher compressive strength, lower permeability, better resistance to chemical attacks and increased durability against harsh environmental conditions. It’s commonly used in structures where superior performance and longevity are crucial, such as high-rise buildings, bridges, marine structures and infrastructure projects.
Low Shrinkage Concrete
Low shrinkage concrete is designed to reduce the amount of drying shrinkage that typically occurs in conventional concrete, minimizing volume changes during curing. This type of concrete incorporates various additives and technologies aimed at minimizing the overall shrinkage, which helps to reduce cracking and improves the durability of the structure. By using special admixtures, modifying the cementitious materials, or employing specific curing techniques, low shrinkage concrete provides a more stable and resilient concrete for construction projects.
Fiber Reinforced Concrete
Fiber reinforced concrete (FRC) is made by adding fibers made of steel or synthetic polymers to the concrete mixture. When mixed into the concrete, these fibers, reduce cracking, and improve the toughness and durability of the material allowing for the elimination of welded wire mesh (WWM) in most cases, reducing site labour costs. Fiber reinforced concrete is often used in applications where increased toughness and resistance to cracking are essential, such as in pavements, industrial floors.
Self-Consolidating Concrete
Self-consolidating concrete (SCC) is a specialized type of concrete that flows easily into place, filling intricate forms and spaces without the need for vibration or mechanical consolidation. It’s highly workable and flows under its own weight, allowing it to be placed uniformly within formwork without segregation. SCC achieves this flowability through a precise mix design with optimized proportions of coarse and fine aggregates, superplasticizers, and viscosity-modifying agents. It’s commonly used in complex architectural designs, elements with congested reinforcement, and where high-quality surface finishes are desired, reducing labour and improving overall construction efficiency.
Decorative Concrete
Decorative concrete offers a versatile and affordable way enhance the aesthetic appeal of concrete surfaces. Various methods such as pigmenting, stamping, staining and polishing are used to achieve decorative effects and rich colours on concrete surfaces. Decorative concrete is commonly used in interior and exterior applications such as driveways, patios, floors, walkways, and pool decks, providing both functionality and visually appealing design options.
